For learning, feedback is crucial. Sometimes I had no clue what was my mistake so it’s difficult to improve or correct the mistake …
Any way pretty good trainer … congratulations …
I do not understand what the percentage number for the Range is in the “hand reading tutorial.”
I wish the “tutorial” would give a number of examples for the practice systems. As a complete beginner I do not understand what the statement “Opponent Open from CO – Range: 22 %” means.
Could someone explain what the “Range 22%” means please?
I am real beginner. I seem to understand all the other practices but this one is not clear to me. From all I’ve read, hand reading is the most important skill, although I’d say pot equity and counting outs are probably every bit as important. In any case, any help in explaining this is very much appreciated. By the way, I bought the Android app and for me its a GREAT INVESTMENT and I’ll be posting that on my blogs because this app is really great to practice all the basics on my android and PC. I hope this forum becomes a major source of information for aspiring poker players. Thanks for a great app. I hope the developers will provide additional hand reading tutorials and practice systems.
Thanks a million!!!
Thanks for nice feedback Guy!
I agree there is room for improvement in the tutorials, I have put that on the todo list. And now you have motivated me to get around to actually doing it:-)
In the tutorial you find the following info for opening from the Cutoff position (the position before the dealer Button):
Cutoff 22-AA, A5s-AKs, A8o-AKo, KT+, QT+, 87s-JTs, JTo (22 %)
The 22 % means that the player (in this case it is a representative tight player) opens with 22 % of all possible hand combinations.
It is very valuable to have a feeling for what hand range different types of players play from different positions.
It might be good to know that a hand like AA is 0.5 % of all possible hand combinations. A hand like AK is 1.2 %. So a range consisting of QQ, KK, AA and AK is about 3 % of all possible hand combinations.
If you in the future get a tool like Holdem Manager or Pokertracker for poker statistics you can get very good understanding for the hands your opponents are playing.
I plan to add different player types – and to improve the Tutorials in the near future.
Thanks!
dude, these applications are pretty bad. I mean, you’ve got the right idea but without any feedback it’s impossible to learn from. I just did the pot odds trainer with a calculator and it’s telling me most of my answers are wrong. I’m not saying I have a degree in mechanical engineering or anything (wait, I do have a degree in mechanical engineering), but I’ve taken enough math/statistics classes to know I’m right. If you aren’t gonna add feedback, at least make sure you have the right answers
Thanks for feeback Kirk.
I agree that the feedback is really important so I have improved this. Now you can get feedback in three ways:
– You get plus 20 seconds and the button becomes red when you answer wrong
– There is a Practice mode to all exercises where you get feedback on wrong answers – and you can see the correct answer
– For Hand Reading I have added a “Worst mistake” where you can review your worst mistake and learn from that.
Hope this helps!
I have been using this practice tool for the last couple of weeks. Three words – Ex Cell Ent!!! Have you thought about an option to allow for user input? For example, I can select my position, hole cards and maybe some basic options of action the other players have taken. The last one may be a little too much but I would think the first two suggestions may be doable.
Thanks for nice feedback DMo! I think your suggestions are very good, I will put it high in my feature-list, thanks!
I am also considering letting everyone input their own favorite preflop hands to make it more personal.
